Disaster Management
The Disaster Management Intern will support Sankala Foundation’s initiatives in disaster
risk reduction, preparedness, and resilience-building. The role involves research, policy
analysis, field engagement, and structured documentation aligned with national and
international frameworks.
Eligibility & Educational Background
The candidate should possess or be pursuing a Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management, or a Master’s Degree in Geology/ Geography, or any other relevant discipline, with demonstrated academic exposure to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
Key Areas of Work
- Conduct research on multi-hazard risks (natural and anthropogenic);
- Support preparation of policy briefs, analytical reports, and knowledge products;
- Document case studies, best practices, and lessons learned;
- Assist in compilation and comparison of multi-state datasets;
- Identify gaps in disaster preparedness, coordination mechanisms, and response systems;
- Participate in field visits, stakeholder consultations, and data collection exercises.
Required Knowledge
The candidate should have a basic understanding of multi-hazard risks, including both
natural and anthropogenic hazards. Familiarity with disaster management frameworks such
as the NDMA Guidelines and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
