Sankala Internship Programme

The Sankala Internship Programme is designed to engage with and provide opportunities to young students. It serves as a boot camp for policy and practice enthusiastswith interest in the field of environment, climate, sustainability and basic services to people to have an improved quality of life.

The internship will provide practical know-how to work at the intersection of government, public policy making, private sectors, innovation & entrepreneurship, and society at large. The course designing and knowledge dissemination is done by domain experts with national and international repute and experience in these fields.

We are currently accepting application for 2 to 6 months Internship Programme for students who have completed graduation or are pursuing post-graduation or involved in research work in the relevant domain to gain practical experience and contribute to organization's mission. As an intern at Sankala Foundation, you will work closely with the assigned team, engage in meaningful programmes, and develop essential skills for your professional growth.

 

Who can apply ?

The The Internship Programme welcomes applications from potential candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • Students or researchers seeking practical experience in their field of study;
  • Individuals pursuing post-graduation, PG Diploma, PhD or any advanced academic degrees;
  • Below 30 years of age; and
  • Willing to work from our Delhi office.

Internship domains

Forest, wildlife and environment conservation (Position 2)

Areas: Biodiversity conservation, forest & wildlife management, wildlife protection, ecotourism, habitat restoration, etc.

Required skills: Strong knowledge of principles of forest, wildlife and environmental conservation, familiarity with wildlife conservation practices, ability to conduct research on ecological systems, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, passion for promoting sustainable ecotourism practices.

Environment and ecology (Position 2)

Areas: Environmental science, environmental engineering, ecological services, natural resource management, developmental studies, etc.

Required skills: Understanding of environment policies, programmes & schemes of the government; use of technology, innovation, and sustainable solutions; knowledge and understanding of research tools and soft skills, strong communication skills, experience in working with stakeholders in this area.

Water resource and water supply (Position 2)

Areas: Water resource and water supply management, water governance, hydrological systems, decentralized water supply systems, service delivery, water quality issues, grey water management, development of public utilities, regulations, etc.

Required skills: Knowledge of water supply systems including decentralized systems, public utility, sustainability of sources and systems, ability to conduct research with strong analytical skills.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (Position 1)

Areas: Sustainable development, implementation and monitoring of SDGs, impact assessment and policy analysis for sustainable development.

Required skills: Understanding of the SDGs framework, knowledge of sustainable development concepts, ability to analyze policies and programs for sustainable development, strong research and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Climate and energy (Position 2)

Areas: Climate change issues, mitigation and adaptation, clean energy, energy efficiency, renewable energy, emerging technologies, carbon footprint analysis, etc.

Required skills: Understanding of climate change and energy concepts, familiarity with renewable energy technologies, ESG and EPA compliances, ability to analyze climate change impacts, strong research and data analysis skills, passion for promoting sustainable energy practices.

Communication and social media (Position 2)

Areas: Website development, graphic design, content creation, digital marketing, communication strategies, etc.

Required skills: Proficiency in website development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), experience with content management systems (CMS), familiarity with graphic design software, ability to create engaging digital content, knowledge of digital marketing strategies, excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Selection Process

The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates. Applications will be assessed based on academic record, relevant experience, and their passion for the issues related to Sankala Foundation. Interested candidates are requested to apply online in the prescribed form.

Honorarium

Selected interns will be offered an honorarium of INR 15,000 per month during the internship period. In case of exceptional candidates from outside NCR in the required field, Sankala Foundation will also consider facilitating accommodation during the internship period.

Responsibilities of Interns

As an intern, you will be entrusted with diverse responsibilities that align with your skills and interests. These may include conducting research, supporting programme/ project implementation, assisting in policy analysis, contributing to advocacy efforts, and engaging in outreach and advocacy activities. We encourage interns to actively participate and bring fresh perspectives to our ongoing initiatives.

Experience Certificate

Upon successful completion of the internship programme, interns will be provided with an experience certificate, acknowledging their valuable contributions and the skills acquired during their time at Sankala Foundation.
