Positions Open

This position is for a person with extensive experience in research and analysis, report and book writing, and formulation of policy documents in the field of drinking water supply and sanitation. The candidate must be aware of government’s endeavours to ensure clean tap water supply to every household, studying various models and practices in the water sector. Knowledge about India's water governance and water security programmes and practices would be appreciated.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • A PhD degree from a reputed institution in water science / hydrology / public health engineering / environmental engineering / public policy / rural management / development fields / resource economics or a related field, is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an institution or organisation focused on research, policy analysis, report writing and policy formulation. 
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality policy papers, reports, monographs, books, etc.
  • Extensive experience of evaluating water-related programmes in India.
  • Engagement and association with national/ international organisations.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead programme/ vertical on water supply and collaborate with inter-sectoral teams.
  • Conduct in-depth studies to assess the state of drinking water supply, quality, and accessibility in different regions of India.
  • Produce comprehensive reports, books, policy papers and articles providing valuable insights into India's water supply challenges and potential solutions
  • Engage with the government, NGOs, and stakeholders to contribute to policy discussions.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with academic institutions and research organisations as well as funding agencies.
  • Disseminate research findings and provide mentorship to junior researchers.

The Sankala Foundation is opening this position to attract a seasoned water sector professional with extensive experience in research, analysis, report and book writing, analyzing and formulating policy documents in water resource management and/ or water governance. The individual will support India's water governance mission.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • A PhD degree from a reputed institution in public policy, water resource management, hydrology, environmental sciences, rural management, natural resource economics or management, or any related field, is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of working in the sector of policy formulation in drinking water supply in India.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality research and policy papers and reports. 
  • Prior experience in evaluation and analysis of water resource management related projects, irrigation management, water use efficiency, recycling, water resource economics and management.
  • Engagement and association with national/ international organisations.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee research initiatives focused on water governance and/ or water resource management in India with exposure to best practices in other parts of the world.
  • Conduct comprehensive studies to assess the state of water resources, availability, distribution, and sustainability in different regions of India.

The individual will conduct research on wildlife management, ecotourism and habitat restoration and take forward the organisation’s mandate for biodiversity conservation and policy advocacy. 

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Postgraduate degree from a reputed organisation in wildlife studies, environmental science, environment and ecology, natural resource conservation, or any related field with strong writing skills.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience, including research, analysis, and published writings on wildlife and related issues. 
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality write-ups, feature articles and reports. 
  • Prior experience in reputed national/ international organisations.

  • A PhD degree from a reputed organisation, in energy policy or economics/ public policy/ renewable energy/ environmental engineering/ climate science or a related field, is desirable.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in conducting research, documenting, analyzing, report-writing, and formulating policy documents and reports related to clean energy sector in India.
  • In-depth knowledge of the energy sector related to sustainable practices and technological development in energy market specifically.
